Within a very short time of arriving in London, Ian was being offered session work. Radio sessions and minor work at first, then a session for a man called Steve Harley who Ian didn't recognize until someone mentioned Cockney Rebel. Steve offered Ian the job with Cockney Rebel. After much deliberation, he turned it down in favor of Pilot, who had secured a recording contract by then. Ironically as history shows, Pilot went on to have their first number one record with January, but were knocked off the top spot after three weeks by .... Cockney Rebel!! |
